We define personal information as information about the consumer or client that is collected through an application, credit report, or other forms or products on our websites. This may include without limitation, name, address, telephone number, social security number, date of birth, employment information, financial information and email address.
DLC Funds Corp. collects personal information for the following reasons:
- To identify the client and verify the information they provided
- To understand the consumer/clients needs and eligibility for products and/or services they requested
- To recommend products and/or services that will better serve the consumer/client
- To obtain a credit report to confirm the client’s credit worthiness
- To submit the client’s mortgage application to the mortgage lender and insurer (if required) for the purposes of securing a mortgage and/or related service
We will only use personal information for the purpose that we have stated above.
We are also obligated to keep your personal information confidential except under the following circumstances: when authorized by the employee, independent contractor, consumer and/or client; when required by law; and when permitted by law.
How Personal Information Is Collected
Our main source of information is the person themselves; therefore the consumer and/or client. We collect information from the individual when they fill out a form or register on our website. A statement of consent is clearly expressed on the application form that clients are asked to fill out. A client’s consent may also be obtained through other forms of written documentation.
A client may withdraw their consent by written notice to DLC Funds at any time, subject to any legal or contractual restrictions and reasonable notice.
With the client’s consent we may also obtain information directly from a third party to assist in determining the client’s eligibility for various financial products and services.
How Personal Information is Used & Disclosed
Personal information will be used to provide the consumer/client with the financial advice and services requested and for the purpose outlined in the consent statement. Under certain circumstances, personal information may be shared and disclosed to third parties in order to facilitate the matter for which the consumer/client has retained the Company and provided consent for.
Any of the companies that DLC Funds shares or discloses personal information to is contractually required to comply with confidentiality standards. The company may also be required to disclose personal information as required or permitted by law.
Occasionally, DLC Funds may also use the information collected to notify a consumer and/or client of important changes to the Company’s website, products and services that the Company believes will be valuable to our clients. If a client does not wish to receive this information they can notify DLC Funds Corp. by email, dlcfunds@dominionlending.ca.
Safeguards
DLC Funds Corp. maintains adequate safeguards to protect against loss, theft, unauthorized access, disclosure, copying, use or modification of personal information in our care. Safeguards used include but are not limited to computer and electronic security, destruction or information no longer needed, and limited access to areas where personal information is physically stored.
